Arts and Crafts Remodel

This client contacted us after viewing a home that we designed way back in 1998. The 1998 home had come up for sale and our clients were smitten by the design of the home and contacted us to help them with their own home deign. This was a long process as we spent a lot of time looking for a suitable home to remodel in their desired area. We finally chose a home that had last been remodeled in the 1980’s and looked nothing like our client wanted for a final product. This was a difficult project as remodels often present a unique challenge. A successful remodel needs to utilize as much of the existing home as possible to be cost effective. If everything needs to be changed, then it is often less expensive to tear down the home and start over. This home had lots of great spaces but the floor plan had poor flow and the kitchen was cut off from the living room. All remnants of the dated floor plan that we had inherited.

Since the clients wanted to capture the Arts and Crafts style of our 1998 design we remodeled the entry, main floor plan and dining room. We added a more open and usable bonus room over the kitchen (along with new higher ceilings). The Dining Room now opens up to a covered outdoor dining area that adds has a heavy timber frame truss to further enhance the Arts and Crafts style of the home.
